Marcus Cook

Integrative Psychotherapist

Hello, I'm Marcus. Welcome to my website.

How are you feeling? Are you having a difficult time at the moment?

I offer a confidential, warm and calm space to talk about what is troubling you, without judgement, so that you feel heard, accepted and valued. We are all unique, so I am committed to working with you holistically, as a person with your own life story.

I am a qualified psychotherapist and counsellor, and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I hold a master's in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling from Regent's University London. I offer short and long-term therapy sessions to adult individuals. I am available for in-person sessions at my private practice in Marylebone, Central London, and online sessions across the UK and worldwide.  I have worked with citizens and expats living in France, Italy, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand and Malaysia.

My Approach

I have trained as an integrative psychotherapist and counsellor, which means that I draw on a number of different theories and approaches that would work best for you in supporting our work together: person-centred, humanistic, existential, psychodynamic and relational.

I create a personalised approach by tailoring the therapy to your needs, issues and stage in the therapeutic process.

I see the therapeutic process as being a collaborative relationship in which we are equal partners. Together, we explore and reflect on your thoughts, feelings and behaviours as you process your experience. With new awareness and understanding come new perspectives and options, leading to healing, change and growth.

Psychotherapy and Counselling

These terms are often used interchangeably, as there are few meaningful differences between them. 'Therapy' refers to both. For me, counselling is more focused on specific current issues which are causing distress. Psychotherapy can be seen as a deeper exploration of how current difficulties have their roots in the past, and how the structure of our personality affects how we relate to others and the meaning we make of our lives.

Counselling tends to be a short (6+ sessions) to medium-term process, whereas psychotherapy is usually a medium to long-term process (open-ended).

Sessions and Fees

In-person or online therapy

We can either meet at my practice in Marylebone or have our sessions online, from the comfort of your home, office or wherever you choose. Online therapy means I am able to work with people based anywhere in the UK, and around the world.

Sessions last up to 50 minutes, and are held weekly, at the same time each week.

Initial consultation

I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation on Zoom, so you can get a sense of how I work, and what it feels like working with me. This will also give me a better understanding of your needs and how I can help. It is a chance for you to ask me whatever you might need to know about me and about working together.

Fees

After the initial consultation, if you decide that you would like to work with me, you can tell me how much your weekly session fee will be, according to the sliding scale of fees below. There is no need to show any proof of your income.

I believe that mutual trust and respect, transparency and fairness are important for developing a good therapeutic relationship.
